Skincare Treatments We Offer
Our treatment plans combine professional procedures and medical-grade skincare to help maintain long-term skin health and results. Face & Mane skincare treatments have been developed by Dr. Deborah Hudak who has provided aesthetic treatments in her own Med Spa for 30 plus years. In addition to practicing medicine Dr. Hudak also has an undergrad in chemical engineering. This gives her exceptional insight into which chemicals and treatment programs work best for a particular condition or desired outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding Medical-Grade and Prescription Skincare
What is medical-grade skincare?
Medical-grade skincare is skincare dispensed through a licensed medical provider rather than sold at retail. It generally contains higher concentrations of active ingredients, uses more stable delivery systems, and in some cases includes prescription ingredients. The term is not an FDA classification, so the meaningful difference is not the label — it is the concentration, the formulation, and the fact that a provider matched it to your skin.
What is a prescription skin care plan?
A prescription skin care plan is a written regimen built for your skin after an in-person examination, including prescription-strength actives where they are clinically appropriate. It covers what you apply, in what order, how often, and how to increase strength safely over time. It is reassessed and adjusted at every follow-up visit rather than handed to you once.
Can Face & Mane really prescribe skincare at my home?
Yes. Prescription actives require a valid provider-patient relationship and a good-faith examination, and a home visit satisfies that in exactly the way an office visit does — your provider is physically present and examining your skin. The practical difference is that you are not making a second trip to collect anything.
Do I have to be on a prescription plan to have a treatment?
No. You can have any treatment on this page without purchasing anything. Your provider will tell you honestly what will and will not hold without a plan, and then it is your decision. We would rather you leave with three products you will actually use than eight you will not.
Choosing a Treatment
Which treatment is right for me?
It depends on what has changed. Tone and pigment — sun spots, melasma, post-acne marks — respond best to chemical peels alongside a corrective plan. Texture, pores, and scarring respond best to microneedling in a series, with or without PRP. Surface dullness responds to dermaplaning. And nearly everyone benefits from a prescription plan, because that is what holds the rest in place.
Can I combine treatments in one visit?
Some combinations, yes. Dermaplaning before a peel is common and improves both. Microneedling and a peel are generally not performed on the same day, because each already asks a great deal of the skin barrier. Your provider will sequence what makes sense and explain why the rest is being spaced out.
How often should I be treated?
For a corrective phase, every three to six weeks depending on the treatment, across three to six visits. After that most patients settle into maintenance every six to twelve weeks alongside their daily plan. Skin remodels on its own timeline; treating more frequently does not accelerate it and can set you back.
Microneedling, PRP and Exosomes
What does microneedling actually do?
It creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin with fine sterile needles. Your body treats these as micro-injuries and responds by producing new collagen and elastin in the weeks that follow. The visible change comes from that remodeling, not from the treatment itself, which is why results appear gradually and build across a series.
How many microneedling sessions will I need?
Typically three to six, spaced four to six weeks apart. Fine lines and general texture often respond within three. Acne scarring usually needs six or more, and deeper scarring may need ongoing maintenance. Your provider will give you a realistic number at consultation rather than quoting a package before seeing your skin.
Does microneedling hurt?
Less than most people expect. Topical numbing is applied and given time to work before treatment begins, and most patients describe vibration and pressure rather than pain. The forehead and along the jaw are the most sensitive areas. Expect the skin to feel warm and tight, similar to a sunburn, for the rest of the day.
What is a PRP facial?
A PRP facial is microneedling performed with your own platelet-rich plasma applied into the freshly created channels. A small blood sample is drawn and processed on site to concentrate the platelets, which carry the growth factors your body uses to repair tissue. The channels give those growth factors a route into the skin.
Does a PRP facial require a blood draw?
Yes. A small sample is drawn at the start of your appointment and processed while your skin is numbing, which adds roughly thirty minutes overall. If a blood draw is not something you want, exosome facial therapy and standard microneedling are both performed without one.
What are exosomes in skincare?
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles — microscopic particles that cells release to carry signaling molecules to other cells. In aesthetics, an exosome product is applied topically to the skin immediately after microneedling, while the channels are open, as a post-procedure adjunct.
Are exosome facials FDA-approved?
No. Exosome products are not FDA-approved for aesthetic use, and the FDA has issued public safety communications regarding unapproved regenerative products. We use exosome products topically only, never by injection, as a cosmetic adjunct following treatment. We tell patients this directly, because it is the kind of thing you should hear from your provider rather than discover afterward. Your provider will explain what the product is, where it is sourced, and why they are or are not recommending it for you.
Are exosomes injected?
Not by Face & Mane. Exosome products are applied topically to the skin surface after microneedling. We do not inject them, and we would encourage you to ask the same question of anyone who offers to.
Peels and Dermaplaning
What does a chemical peel do?
A chemical peel applies a professional-strength acid solution that dissolves the bonds holding dead cells to the skin surface, prompting them to shed and revealing newer skin underneath. Deeper peels reach into the upper dermis and stimulate collagen. Peels are the most direct treatment available for uneven tone and pigment.
Which peel is right for my skin?
That depends on your concern, your skin type, and your pigment history. Salicylic-based peels suit oily and acne-prone skin. Lactic and mandelic peels are gentler and better tolerated by sensitive and darker skin. Glycolic peels work broadly on texture and tone. Blended and TCA-based formulations go deeper. Your provider selects the agent and strength in person, because getting this wrong on the wrong skin type causes the exact problem you came in to fix.
Are chemical peels safe for darker skin tones?
Yes, when the agent, the strength, and the preparation are matched to the skin. Fitzpatrick types IV through VI carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — a dark mark left behind after inflammation — so we typically prepare the skin with a regimen for several weeks first, start with gentler agents such as lactic or mandelic acid, and build gradually. The risk comes from aggressive treatment, not from peels themselves.
Results and Recovery
What is the downtime for each treatment?
Dermaplaning has none — you can go back to your day, and to makeup, immediately. Microneedling, PRP, and exosome therapy each produce redness resembling a moderate sunburn for one to three days. Chemical peels range from no visible peeling to five to seven days of flaking depending on depth. Your provider tells you exactly what to expect for your specific treatment before it starts.
How soon will I see results?
Dermaplaning shows immediately. Peels show as the skin finishes shedding, generally within a week. Microneedling and the treatments built on it are the slowest and the most durable — some improvement at two to three weeks, meaningful change at six to eight weeks as new collagen matures, and continued improvement across a full series. A prescription plan typically shows at eight to twelve weeks, which is where most people give up on it too early.
How long do results last?
Treatment results last months, and your daily plan determines whether that becomes years. Skin is a living organ under continuous environmental load; nothing done in a single appointment is permanent. Patients who maintain a plan and treat periodically hold their results indefinitely. Patients who treat once and stop return to where they started within a year.
Can I wear makeup afterward?
After dermaplaning, immediately. After microneedling, PRP, or exosome therapy, wait 24 hours — the channels are open and the skin needs that window. After a peel, wait until your provider clears you, generally 24 to 48 hours. Your aftercare instructions cover this specifically for what you had done.
Safety and Candidacy
Is it safe to have these treatments at home?
It is as safe as any clinical setting when the provider, the product, and the protocols are the same. Safety in skin treatment comes from a properly trained provider, authentic product sourced and stored correctly, sterile single-use instruments, an accurate assessment of your skin type before anything is applied, and real follow-up. Face & Mane maintains all five at every visit, and physician escalation is available in real time.
What are the risks?
The common effects are redness, tightness, dryness, and flaking, all of which settle within days. Less common are prolonged irritation, breakouts as congestion clears, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is more likely in deeper skin tones and is the specific reason we prepare the skin and start conservatively. Infection and scarring are rare with sterile technique and appropriate depth. Treatments involving an applied material carry an additional possibility of reaction to that material. Your provider reviews the risks relevant to your treatment and skin type before you consent.
What if I have active acne, rosacea, or eczema?
All three are treatable, but they change the plan. Active inflammatory acne rules out dermaplaning and usually redirects toward salicylic-based peels and a corrective prescription plan. Rosacea calls for gentle, barrier-focused treatment and specific ingredient avoidance. Eczema requires the barrier to be stable before any resurfacing. Your provider assesses in person and sequences accordingly.
What if I take isotretinoin?
Resurfacing and needling treatments are generally deferred until you have been off isotretinoin for a period of time, because the skin heals differently while it is in your system and during recovery. The specific interval is a clinical judgment your provider makes based on current guidance and your history. Tell your provider at consultation, and never stop a prescribed medication on your own.
Do I need to stop my current products before treatment?
Usually yes, briefly. Retinoids, acids, and physical scrubs are typically paused for several days before a peel or microneedling so the barrier is intact when treatment begins. Your provider sends specific preparation instructions when you book. Bring or photograph everything you currently use — including what you bought and abandoned, which is often the most informative part.
